I am not looking to swap at this time - my buying is out of control lately and I need to at least get rid of things to make room for what I'm bringing in.

Hi All, I’m on my last month of Accutane out of 9 (woo!) and I just wanted to share my experience and tips that have worked for me for anyone currently on or thinking about starting. I went through 3 years of adolescent and 4 years of adult acne before making the dive to be on accutane. I wish I went on it sooner and it would have saved me a great deal of social anxiety if I had. I was so adamant about going the natural route and convinced drinking more water would cure my hormonal acne, but it always came back. Sometimes you just have to come to terms that you were not blessed with these good genes and natural won’t work lol. Unfortunately the Spironolactone and Tretinoin combo did not work well for me either. For dosage, I was on 30 mg a day for the first month which got bumped up to 60mg a day. So here I’ve compiled what has worked for me on my journey! Physical Health: Accutane has forced me to be healthier! I’ve found that regular exercise and eating healthy drastically improves my well being on the drug. - Exercise 3x a week - omega-3/fat heavy diet (helps with the absorption) - half an avocado every morning - 2 omega-3 pills (690mg total) - Vitamin D daily (I had low levels due to quarantine and the drug combo) - Vitamin C daily (I’ve been taking this since the beginning of last year) - drink tons of water, the liver works hard to breakdown the drug - Avoid multivitamins: usually will contain vitamin A and since Accutane is already giving you a ton of that, you don’t want to add on a vitamin doses worth. DISCLAIMER: I am not a doctor so please consult your physician before starting any vitamin/drug regimen Mental Health: I will be honest that my mental health did take a bit of a dip, but this could have also been from a combination of quarantine, moving back to my parents’ house, career changes and the drug. So fun, I know. - Weekly Therapy has helped a lot, and honestly probs could have used it earlier too! There are now a ton of resources for affordable options - Daily Meditation, this spaces myself from stress when I’m spiraling and also a good start to the morning. Has helped level out mucho - Sleep: HUGE difference in my mood between 6-7 hours of sleep and 7-9 hours! - Forgive yourself: this is a taxing process so just remember you may function slower than usual and that is ok!!! - Dosage: Reducing the dosage is an option and should be discussed with your dermatologist! I actually reduced my dosage after 2 months of being on 60mg thinking that it was the primary driver of my mentality, but after going back to 30 mg for 2 months, I saw minimal change so went back up to 60 mg and have been at that level for around 4 months. Skin Regimen: Simplicity and moisturizing is key! Accutane is already doing the work to clear your skin and that unfortunately zapped any moisture i might have had temporarily. I went from being super oily/combo skin to bone dry. Day:
wash face with water
Cerave moisturizing cream
canmake 50+ spf
Palmers cocoa butter stick or aquaphor for lips
Night - Banill co. Clean It Zero Purifying cleansing balm for makeup removal - Cetaphil face wash - Systane preservative free eyedrops - Rosehip oil if extremely dry - Cerave moisturizing cream - Palmers cocoa butter stick + aquaphor for lips - palmers cocoa butter body lotion Other tips: - For cracked lips, esp on the sides: Dr. Dan’s cortibalm lip balm - For hands: Weleda skin food cream or Trader Joe’s ultra rich moisturizing cream will help a bad case of eczema - CONSTANTLY apply chapstick You can find most of these at your local drugstore/Target/Walmart/Whole Foods. Canmake sunblock and Palmers cocoa butter stick you might need to order on Amazon. Hair: This was the best part for me! Since you dry out, your hair doesn’t have to be washed as frequently. I tested this, and I could go two weeks without washing my hair and it would look like I’ve only gone two days. Although I wash once a week now out of preference, as you can see you can really go a long time. Plus, in quarantine you’re primarily staying home anyways (hopefully) so it’s a good chance to give your hair a break from product and heat. All in all, in my experience I found that this is worth it if you’ve struggled with mediocre to severe acne for a while. Everyone’s experience is different, and for me it is has been more a positive than a negative. Someone told me my skin looks like a glazed dinner roll the other day- best compliment I’ve ever received 😂 Remember, things may get worse (purging) before they get better so don’t freak out of your acne flares up in the beginning. And be kind to yourself, this is a tough process and I won’t lie that the temporary side effects can be intense so good self care is key to minimizing these. Make good decisions, take care, be kind to yourself, and good luck! I’ll update this post as I think of more <3 Also anyone else going through this during the pandemic? Would love to commiserate and hear some other experiences!
Hey guys. Here are mini-reviews of most of the skincare products I tried in 2020! (I have normal-combination skin which is slightly acne-prone. I live in a very humid city) • Oil Cleansers Biotique Almond Oil Makeup Cleanser: Does a good job at removing eye makeup and sunscreen, also used it a couple of times for the 15 min oil cleansing method. Doesn't break me out or clog my pores, but nothing that great. WRNP because of the incomplete ingredient list. Deve Herbes Pure Safflower Oil: It's a very light oil and is pretty good for oily skin. Removes makeup/sunscreen well and doesn't clog pores. Only downside is that you need to take quite some quantity to get off stuff effectively, but works well otherwise. WRP for occasional oil cleansing. • Cleansers/Face Washes WOW Brightening Vitamin C Face Wash: Weird fragrance and consistency, horrible packaging (so much of the product leaked out). The performance itself is decent but might feel too stripping on dry skin types. Didn't enjoy it, WNRP. Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Face Wash: I've been using this for the past couple of years and personally it has worked really well for my skin, doesn't strip it or irritate it and is very affordable. I know it's a controversial product but suits me. WRP. Forest Essentials Delicate Facial Cleanser (Saffron and Neem): It's a little expensive but I have been enjoying this cleanser a lot. It's perfect for the AM and is really gentle and has a pleasing fragrance, plus it feels luxurious and foams just enough. WRP for gentle cleansing. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser: Took some time to get used to it. It's gentle and non-stripping, but not sufficient after an oil cleanser. It worked well for me when my moisture barrier was compromised, but I didn't enjoy it that much. WNRP. Biotique Bio Honey Gel Refreshing Foaming Face Wash: Surprisingly worked really well. Foams up a bit but doesn't leave the skin stretchy or dry. Works well after an oil cleanser and is very basic and affordable. WRP. • Toners/Mists/Essence Miniso Olives Moisture Essence: It has a very mild and refreshing fragrance and has a runny consistency. I used the entire bottle, it did not make any extreme difference to my skin's texture but did give a lot of moisture and glow for a couple of hours after application. It's a good product for some instant hydration, but I'm able to achieve the same with good HA moisturizers and didn't see the benefit of this extra step in my routine. WNRP. Khadi Natural Rose Water: A decent toner, didn't do much for my skin other than a little hydration, but thankfully did not break me out. Since there are better rose water alternatives in the market, WNRP. Kama Ayurveda Pure Rose: Definitely better than the Khadi one. It's hydrating, refreshing, and smells like fresh roses. And the spray is lovely. Might try to find a cheaper alternative else WRP. Forest Essentials Facial Tonic Mist Panchpushp: This is a great toner. It visibly makes the skin glow and feels refreshing and hydrating. Even though it's expensive, it's worth the experience. WRP. Plum Green Tea Alcohol-Free Toner: Hate the fragrance, didn't do anything positive for my skin. Money waster, WNRP. • Serums/Actives Sebogel Salicylic Acid & Nicotinamide: My first SA product. Works as a spot treatment but does take a couple of days and dries out the skin. I've used it on my full face about 1 time in 2 weeks and makes a little difference on blackheads etc. WRP but just as a spot treatment. Irem Vitamin C Serum: Stay away from this product. It is highly fragranced, it irritated my skin and broke me out so much. I got lured in because of the fake amazon reviews and the cheap price, but it didn't work for me one bit. WNRP. Trycone Anti Acne and Glow Skin Serum: Pretty much the same as above. The ingredient list is scary and I was a little reckless with my use of this serum, it ruined my moisture barrier. (How can the company instruct to use it daily?? It is too much for the skin!!) WNRP. Suganda: Niacinamide 10% Serum: Hardly did anything good for my face. Initially, it seemed to be keeping the oil in control, but after about a month it started irritating the skin, broke me out and went bad. WNRP. Minimalist Niacinamide 5% Serum: Been using it for a month and it has worked really well for me. Had made my skin healthier, more glowing and the breakouts are under control. WRP. Myoho: Glow Serum**: It has a lovely texture and hydrates the skin really well. But over time it broke me out (due to the kumkumadi in it). Gave it to my father and although it's a decent serum, it didn't really make much of a difference other than just hydrating. Definitely not worth the price, WNRP. • Moisturizers/Lotion Pond's Super Light Gel Moisturiser: What a light-weight and amazing gel moisturizer. It's perfect for humid climates and oily skin, absorbs in really well and hydrates the skin for quite some time. The only con is the strong fragrance and the fact that it stung my face when my barrier was weak. But a very affordable and reliable gel, WRP! Simple Hydrating Light Moisturizer: A blessing for my combination skin in Mumbai weather! Free of irritants, super hydrating and has helped in healing my skin so so much! Why is it always OOS :(. I really think this is my HG, WRP! Bioderma Atoderm Créme: I got a sample of this creme and had so many hopes with it. Sadly it's too much for my skin and broke me out, it also felt a little greasy. WNRP. Plum Green Tea Night Gel: Tried a sample version and this night gel honestly didn't make any difference to my skin or my acne, it even tingled a little when applied on my face. And oh boy, the fragrance, definitely a let down by Plum. I'm glad I didn't buy its full size based on online reviews. WNRP! Ayush Natural Ayurvedic Aloe Vera Gel: This aloe gel is really affordable and the ingredient list isn't too bad. It has helped me when my skin has been red and irritated and definitely has a cooling effect, but nothing too fancy or drastic. WRNP since I'm looking for a better one. • Sunscreen Lotus Herbals Safe Sun UV Screen Matte Gel, SPF 50: The gel texture is nice and doesn't make the skin oily, but the sunscreen pills so horribly after a few hours. It feels as if one touch on my face would make the sunscreen come off like eraser dust. Cannot be used outdoors at all, WNRP. Aaranyaa Youth Protect Day Cream(SPF 15): It is not a greasy cream and gives the skin a matte finish. It also didn't end up breaking me out or making my face oily/greasy during the day which is great! It is not that moisturizing though and if you're stepping out, it's better to top it up with a higher SPF. It was a decent product, but I want to try out some better SPFs and day creams. WNRP. • Lipbalms Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Balm, Dark Chocolate and Mint: It's a wonderful and affordable lip-balm, does give a slight tingling sensation but works well. I do have to keep reapplying it though. Might RP. NIVEA Lip Balm, Original Care: I like this better than the Palmer's. It has a slightly fruity fragrance and hydrates the lips really well. WRP! Just Herbs Berry Lip balm: It's an okayish lip-balm, feels a little too waxy and is hard to apply and gets hard during cold months. WNRP. M&S Shea Lip Butter: This one is super hydrating but does feel a little heavy and waxy on the lips. WNRP due to the texture. Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask Berry: This one lives up to its hype. I use it 2-3 times a week and it leaves my lips super plump and exfoliated in the morning. The fragrance is yummy and it will last a long time. WRP! Rivona Chocolate Coffee Lip Scrub: A really good and basic lip scrub. It smells amazing and scrubs the lips gently, although it works similar to home-made lip scrubs, so WNRP. • Facial Oils Nykaa Avocado Oil: A light-weight and nourishing oil. Really helps with dry or dehydrated skin and also helped in calming down breakouts! It really suited my skin, but WNRP because I found my HG. Disguise Cosmetics Rainbow Glow Oil: This oil is bomb. It's so light and nongreasy and yet so so nourishing! I always wake up with reduced redness, more glow and healed breakouts (if any). WRP forever! AVS Kumkumadi Oil: I so wanted this to work for me, but sadly kumkumadi oil is too heavy for my skin and broke me out horribly no matter how I used it. It is working well for my mother but I personally WNRP. Rey Naturals Tea Tree Essential Oil: Tea tree oil can be scary, but I used to use it as a diluted spot treatment for me and it worked well in curbing breakouts. I tried using it for dandruff issues but didn't work for me. Since I use Sebogel as a spot treatment now, WNRP. • Physical exfoliators Walnut Face and Body Scrub - Shahscrub Plus: I know it has walnuts, but hear me out. This scrub has been used in my house since years now and it has become a staple. It has a creamy base, is pretty gentle and leaves the skin really glowing. WRP. Khadi Natural Rose & Papaya Face Scrub: This scrub has a creme base and smells amazing. I found it a little harsh for my face and had to use really gently, but it does work well. But it's not that great honestly, so WNRP. • Face Masks The Just Herbs PetalSoft Anti-Tan Rose Face Pack: Got a sample of this product. Smells terrible, so so hard to get out of the pack and spread on the face and stung my face so badly! WNRP. L'Oreal Paris Pure Clay Clay Mask: I quite like this mask. It isn't too drying but still leaves the pores cleaning really fresh and clean, didn't do much for my breakouts though. WRP if can't find a better clay mask. Shamask-I Plus Rejuvenating Mask: My mother has been using this one for years! It really works in making the skin look so radiant and fresh. It does have a strong smell but is a fantastic face mask. WRP. VLCC Mud Face Pack: It's a good mudpack but I'm not a fan of the consistency and the smell of it. I didn't enjoy it too much, it's pretty basic. WNRP. Khadi Natural Sandal and Rose Herbal Face Pack: This is a pretty gentle face mask and can be used even on sensitive skin. Even though it didn't give drastic results, I did enjoy it and it's pretty affordable. WRP. Lotus Yogurt Skin Whitening & Brightening Masque: I have used this masque quite regularly and it does make an instant difference to the glow and brightness of the skin. The texture of the masque is very light and it does feel like you're applying cold yogurt on your face! I love how well this mask has worked for me and how it plumps up the face. However, I have a lot more masks to try and don't want to endorse any 'lightening and brightening' products anymore, hence WNRP. Hope these reviews helped. I'll be posting a second part on hair care soon! :)
AHAGlow Face wash: On my second bottle! When I first started using it, I immediately saw results- dead skin, blackheads, and whiteheads peeled right off my skin. After almost six months of use, I still see these effects whenever I use it. I haven’t been using it much in the winter as it feels drying, but it’s the perfect summer gentle exfoliating face wash. WRP.
Innisfree Aloe Revital Soothing Gel: Apply it on damp skin, it’s so hydrating! My face felt super plump within days of introducing this into my routine. It’s not sticky and absorbs very well. Super soothing on irritation, I use it after facial hair removal and it quickly calms the skin down. WRP, HG.
Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum: I love this stuff so much! It’s just a basic hydrating serum, and it is SO good at it. It’s made my skin glow in a way I never believed was actually attainable. It surprisingly also reduced my skin’s sebum production. It is very watery and lightweight. I don’t like how it feels when applied on its own, it becomes sticky and tacky, and feels like it’s just sitting on top of my skin. WRP, HG.- I mix the above two together (50:50) and apply them as a single layer.
Natures Tattva Rose Water: The latest addition to my routine. I bought it just for the mist bottle, and I didn’t expect it to do wonders, but I can actually see and feel the difference in my skin whenever I use this. My face feels softer and there is an improvement in the persistent texture on my cheeks. Hate the smell though, it’s very sweet and lingers for a long time. WRP.
IPCA Acne OC Moisturizer: my dermat prescribed this to me, and it quickly became HG. It’s so lightweight but creamy, and moisturizes incredibly well. It’s light enough to use in hot and humid summers but also feels sufficient in the winters. A little goes a long way, a 10ml sample tube lasted a whole month. WRP, HG. -On days I'll be getting sun:
Ponds Non-oily Sunscreen SPF 30: lots of mixed reviews about this product, I like it. It’s creamy but feels light on the skin, and any white cast settles within a few minutes of application. My skin doesn’t get greasy with this on, even hours later in the afternoon under conditions where it usually would. WRP.
Bello Photostable Sunscreen SPF 40: I’ve been using this since 2017, still enjoy it! No white cast, non-greasy, moisturizing. It is creamy and slightly thinner in consistency than the Ponds. I think it’s the most reliable in terms of UV filters on the market, so I use this whenever I leave the house. WRP. -Both these sunscreens are moisturizing, so I skip moisturizer when I use them. However, I have tried Ponds with moisturizer underneath, and it doesn’t feel heavy despite the layering. Have not tried Photostable layered yet.
PM:
Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser: My HG! Have not used anything else since I discovered it 4 years ago. It’s just a basic face wash, does nothing more than cleanse, and I like that! Foams just the right amount. It has never left my skin feeling stripped. WRP, HG.
Retino-A 0.025 for 30mins - 1 hour (Rx only): Short Contact Therapy has worked incredibly well for me, I faced no irritation or purging at all.
Wash again with Cetaphil
Mist with Rose Water
Layer of Innisfree Aloe Gel and Green Tea Seed Serum (lately I’ve been misting and applying a second layer because of winter)
Mist again
Acne OC Moisturizer
Nioclean Clindamycin and Nicotinamide Gel (Rx only) on any spots or congestion: I love this ointment, whenever I feel my skin is congested, or see a breakout, I apply a thin layer of this. When I wake up the spot is gone, or at least feels like it’s healing.
Additional products: (used occasionally)
Avene 3-in-1 Makeup Remover: Very meh. Removes dirt and makeup well, but feels like it absorbs into my skin before I can wipe or wash it off. The smell is unpleasant. I use this when my skin feels dry or irritated, its creamy texture is very soothing and moisturizing. Makes me want to try their Thermal Water Spray. WNRP.
Plum e-Luminence Simply Supple Cleansing Balm: Basic balm cleanser, no-frills. Heavy fragrance. Cleanses well, but leaves a film on my face and hands after I emulsify and wash it off, which makes my 2nd cleanser hard to use. WNRP but worth a try.
Disguise Cosmetics Rainbow Glow Oil: this was one of the only products in my daily routine last year, and helped heal a bad breakout and hyperpigmentation. It’s a very lightweight and soothing oil! Now, I will add a drop of it to my moisturizer at night on dry or irritated skin days. I always have a bottle of this with me! WRP.
Cerave Moisturizing Cream: I wish this worked as a moisturizer for me, but causes CCs no matter how little of it I use. However, it is BRILLIANT at healing scabs, itchiness, irritation, and burns. It healed a bad scrape on my face in 2-3 days! (It is my mom’s holy grail for this very reason, she’s been through so many tubs of it in the past 5-6 years). WRP!
Peroclin Clindamycin and Benzoyl Peroxide (Rx only): I prefer this to pure BP. Very strong and effective spot treatment!
Metrogyl Gel 2% (Rx only): prescribed for rosacea, it is very effective. Also heals textured skin and acne.
Lip balms (I’ve been a lip balm enthusiast for as long as I can remember! These are my favorites for generally dry lips + tret dryness):
Vaseline Cocoa Butter: a classic! I’ve been liking this with tret. I apply a layer of this before bed and exfoliate my lips in the morning. Dead skin sloughs off so well. WRP but this tub also seems never-ending.
Burt’s Bees Mango and Ultra Conditioning: this one is so efficient. I love how my lips feel when I apply it. Mango is delicious! The Ultra Conditioning balm lasts almost 6-hours without needing to reapply. Makes my lips super supple. WRP.
Palmers Mint and Cherry: I use these for the SPF. I love the shape of the applicator as well. The tinted lip balm is the perfect rosy shade! WRP the tinted lip balm*. WRP* the mint if I can't find a better lip SPF.
Ted Baker Vanilla: It’s a thicker balm, but not sticky at all, and the littlest amount is sufficient. WRP.
Frank Body: my absolute holy grail, I have used this under the harshest winter conditions, and it has stayed on my lips and kept them moisturized without budging for almost 16 hours. It is a thin lanolin-based formula with no petrolatum. Forever RP and HG.
EOS: I had a big eos phase a few years ago, and still have so many piled up from then. Works well on damp lips to seal in hydration! When applied on dry lips I feel like it makes them feel drier. WNRP but definitely still love them.
Noreva Aquareva: I used this while on isotretinoin. It’s a thick formula and works so well! It heals and soothes chapped lips, and is very moisturizing. Smells so yummy. WNRP, too expensive.
A while back, I asked for some help with what I should try in my Solstice Scents sampler. Since I have tried a second one, and figured now I owed some reviews. BLACK FOREST - *Agarwood, Nagarmotha, Tobacco, Chocolate, Red and Black Cherries, Hay, Sandalwood, Whipped Cream & Pink Pepper. * Out of the bottle, I get a complex chocolate smell, with a bit of woodiness and some cherry. On my skin, bitter cocoa powder with just a touch of curdled cream. Very soft, like you have to put your nose up to it. When I manage not to scrub it immediately, the oud comes out, turning the scent more typically masc. This phase is decidedly better, still not loud at all, yet I still can't say I'm a fan. I'd love to see how this smells on somebody else though, particularly a guy. 2/5 BLOSSOM JAM TEA CAKES - Southern Tea Cakes, Petit Fours, Floral Infused Jams & Preserves and a Delicate Aroma of Tea. When I first put this on, I was like "Oh s***!" worried I had made a mistake . This starts off so ruggedly floral. My hesitance towards florals is one of the biggest reasons I began exploring beyond the department store. But I forced myself to wait this one out, and it was the right call. It needs a solid twenty minutes ti calm down, but once it does, it becomes a yummy gourmand. While it remains more perfumey than literal, it reminds me a lot of the orange evoo cake I make. Really good stuff, it's a little hard to describe. However, I would not call this scent delicate at all. It is rather strong with good sillage, to the point where I find it headache inducing when not in the righ mood. Almost full size worthy, but I dunno. 4/5 CHERRY VANILLA AMBEROSIA - Amber, Cherry, Vanilla, Whipped Cream, Orange. Y'all. I amp cinnamon. Or I just create it. It's not even listed as a note yet here we are. To be really specific, this smells like a Nature's Path apple toaster pastry. To the point where I messaged Angela about it and she confirmed to me it was the right sample based on color. If I wear it longer than an hour, I can vaguely detect some cherry, but otherwise this is crunchy cinnamon amber. A few of y'all advised me to skip this one and I should've listened. The scent itself is wearable even if it's not the cherry I was envisioning. And it lasts and lasts. 3.5/5 CHIFFON - Vanilla, White Musk, White Amber & Lemon Myrtle EO. Wow so this really does smell like chiffon fabric, like the flower girl dress I wore in a play in fourth grade, mixed with a nice non-cleaning product non-tart lemon. I like it. I do get the Froot Loops comparison, but I don't find it terribly obvious; it's not all that sweet. It's just refreshing, like an Arnold Palmer in the heat, but still has a little weight to it. Could go unisex. Throw and longevity are medium, could be stronger but maybe I'm not using enough. I wouldn't say it morphs, but after a few hours it fades really nicely into a soft citrusy skin musk. It layers nicely with BJTC and probably also would with something aquatic or sporty. May very well full size, may try EDP sample. 4.5/5 CONJURE- Vanilla, Amber, Cedar, Spices & Cauldron Smoke. Somebody stop letting me try spicy scents. I keep thinking I'm going to find "the one" but I always end up at Jo-Ann's. Actually it may smell more like the back area of TJ Maxx. Now to be fair, this is the scent I have tested the least, and as far as Fall-esque potpourri type scents I have tried go, it's easily the best. It's pleasant enough, but do I wanna smell like this? I may try this again come October after it ages. 3/5 not full sizing. MANOR - Woody-Vanilla Musk, Vanilla, Agarwood (Oud), Sandalwood. My brother's childhood best friend used to sleepover a lot in the summer when they were in middle school. His mother is somewhat of a perfume collector and there was always a candle lit in their house, so I often have a hard time distinguishing scents I otherwise like from her. But Manor is all her son. It's woody, oud-y, both creamy and a little sharp, a bit masc, but not in annoying or generic way. I'm not sure if it was his cologne or just his deodorant, but this makes me feel nine, feeling cool watching Adam Sandler movies with thirteen-year-old boys all night. It's a hot Saturday morning spent in the AC, begging mom to make us pancakes. This makes me miss our friend. But, I don't want to smell like him. I won't full size, but I do like having the sample. 4.5/5 for the scent itself, 2.5/5 for my personal use. (God do I miss the 2000's lately...) OLD HAVANA - Tobacco, Woods, Sea Mist, Lime, Spices. My grandparents live in a beautiful older home that has been in the family since it was built. There is built-in cabinetry all over the house; in the bathroom there is a large upper cabinet where they keep sundries like toothpaste, mouthwash and shaving cream, and there are drawers beneath where they keep the towels. Old Havana smells like it came out of their bathroom cabinet. This is probably the best way I can describe that it smells like...an old man. I can detect a touch of the woods from Manor, a splash of aftershave, with a little Listerine that was spilled sometime last decade. I haven't worn this long enough to really comment on strength or longevity. Honestly I don't even wanna rate this. I'm never gonna wear it, but dang it's evocative. PHARAOH - Egyptian Musk, Honey & Frankincense Essential Oil. Hmm. This one's an unusual combo. I get laundry, like a nice laundry mat, with a heavy dose of warm sticky honey. More specifically, honey comb. It's good, but maybe a little odd? It took me a few wears to realize it smells like baked brie with honey. While not exactly foodie in the classic sense, and I wouldn't call it sweet much at all, it tends to leave me pondering its edibility. The sillage is minimal, yet the scent is quite strong when you get your nose up to it, if that makes any sense. Towards the end if the day, there's still a trace of the scent, so thumbs up for longevity. I don't need a full size but I may reach for the sample here and there. 3.5/5 POSTPRANDIAL - Vanilla, Irish Cream, Coffee, Chocolate, Bourbon, Pipe Tobacco. In the bottle, this is very promising, like a yummy coffee dessert drink. On my skin, it takes about thirty seconds to diminish into cocoa powder. I will say, Angela's chocolate note is quality stuff, and happily avoids Ovaltine territory. But, even this fades out to smell like nothing but the faintest cocoa butter lotion. Boooo. I don't know why I keep trying scents like this when they never work on me. 1/5 but I'm sure it has potential for others. ROSE MALLOW CREAM - Moroccan Rose absolute, Bulgarian Rose absolute, Marshmallow Fluff, Strawberry Nectar, White Chocolate, Vanilla, White Musk. THIS. This is the juice. This has been described as a rose for the rose averse and y'all, it worked: I am a newly minted rose fan. I was looking for something that reminded me of a rose cupcake I had at a wedding last year, so basically sweet and only slightly floral, and while it's not an exact match, the vibe is there. The opening is quite rosy, initially I thought it was too much. But once this warms into the skin, the magic starts. After a few minutes the creaminess sets in, but it's never milky or sour, just soft and nice. The strawberry is subtle, but if you want a little more, it layers decently with Serenade aux Fraises by Kyse. The rose smells very high quality, and as it settles, develops an almost spicy floral quality. In the most delicious, non-crafty way. Some have cited this as a very sweet scent, but it's only moderately so for me, as someone whose skin eats sweet. It's not cloying or headache inducing at all, which is a big deal for me. Sillage and longevity are average, after five or so hours it's almost faded. Already full sized and would consider EDP for added strength. 5/5 SNOWMINT MALLOW - Peppermint, Vanilla Cake, Sugar Cookies, Flaked Coconut & Marshmallow Crème. It took me a few tries to figure out if I liked this one or not. Out of all the SS scents I tried, this one smells the most like a candle or BBW. No note particularly stands out, rather I get subtle hints of peppermint patty with coconut lotion. I detect the sugar cookie if I think about it. Sillage is pretty good for this type of gourmand, and it lasts for several hours. My third time or so sampling, I was finally able to pinpoint some offness that was keeping me from becoming a fan. It smells like....my scalp. I know that's kinda weird, but like if I just brushed my teeth and then french braided my hair, yeah that's what my fingers would smell like. Ultimately just okay for me, won't full size. 3/5 VICTORIAN PICNIC - Pound Cake, Loquat-Lemon Glaze, Orange Blossoms, Wisteria, Ladyfingers, Jasmine, Azalea Leaf & Reisling. I opened this up having a similar reaction as I did with BJTC. "Ohh dang it's jasmine! I f****d up!" But I waited it out, as I'm learning to do with flourmands. And it gets quite nice after giving it ten to fifteen minutes to cool down. I think Victorian Picnic and BJTC pass as sister scents. This remains more floral, and never fully gets the same sweet cake quality. More mature older sister, perhaps? She sips her white wine and nibbles a few cookies at the garden party instead of gorging herself on petit fours and fruity drinks. This could pass as a Lancome scent, and I'd say it has average throw and longevity. Won't full size but will keep wearing the sample. 4/5 VIOLET MALLOW - Marshmallow Cream, Violet Flowers, Vanilla Bean, White Musk. Why do so many scents remind me of gift shops? Guys we're in a gift shop. This is one in Camden, ME that sells floral decor and kitchen knick knacks that look like they belong in an English cottage. But do I wanna smell like this? My mom recently got a candle that's pretty similar and I think I prefer it for a room, or maybe a hand soap. This was my first time trying a violet perfume so I wasn't too sure what to expect. I think the note is just a little too sharp for me, even when made more sweet and powdery by the marshmallow. Lasted through a shower though. 3/5 won't full size, but worth a try for violet fans.

Palmer’s cocoa butter was one of my favorite body creams back in those days. I was going through some of my archives and then saw it. I decided to do Palmer’s cocoa butter review and put it up for you guys.. I also want this review of Palmer’s cocoa butter to be as detailed as possible, so I asked a few people who have used it to send in their honest reviews of the product. Funny enough, I went to an event at a local hair salon that was giving away goodie bags. It wasn’t until a few months later that I opened it to find some pretty good brands tucked away. I actually had never used Palmer’s before, besides their good ole Cocoa Butter. So I was actually pretty apprehensive of trying these products.
